Jonti "Firework Spraying Moon" (Stones Throw)

MP3: Jonti "Firework Spraying Moon" (Direct Link via Stones Throw)

Kind of reminds me of the psychedelic vibes that Marcos Valle digs into mixed with the shuffle beats that you can always expect from Stones Throw and their roster. Their album 'Twirligig' will be released in the fall via the label however, “Firework Spraying Moon” will drop on 7-inch, gatefold single in August. Jonti first appeared on Stones Throw's 2011 sampler 'Clouds Over The Pacific', recording at the time under the name Danimals.

Vybz Kartel 'Kingston Story' (Mixpak Records) :: Produced by Dre Skull

This week saw the release of an album that was over a year in the making, 'Kingston Story'- the latest release from Mixpak Records which features Vybz Kartel on the mic and Dre Skull on the production boards. Vybz Kartel has always been a favorite MC of mine. Check the video for 'Go Go Wine' and buy the album here.

Dinosaur Jr. 'Bug' Cassette Reissue

Indie godfathers Dinosaur Jr. have announced the reissue of their classic 1988 album Bug on cassette via Joyful Noise Recordings. Slated for release on June 21, the cassette reissue coincides with the band's 15-date US/European tour in which Bug will be performed live in its entirety.

Originally released on cassette in 1988 via the legendary SST label, this is the first ever reissue of a Dinosaur Jr. album on its original cassette format.

Most likely the first time an album was reissued on cassette ever! (Side note, for a while in Chicago my DJ name was Re:Issue.)

Available in extremely limited quantities, the Bug cassette is limited only 250 hand-numbered copies, on high-quality purple tapes, with 8 panel original artwork.

ug cassettes can be ordered for $12 here, apparently, but at time of post no buy links were available.

Sunday Ceremony (650th Post)

Glistening bike rides
In dense humid heat
Like school children
On summer vacation

Remember when summer was permanent vacation?
When school was out?

The pavement became cause for calloused feet
Grass just a bedding for romp
Garden hoses a savior

One day we become savage
For the devious nature of aging
A land to desire flesh and ideas
Instead of imagination
Now we have to slay the dragon
We can't just pretend we have the weapons
We have to believe we do

So we kiss like teens
And urn for our next tussle in the grass
Or beneath the sheets

I read you children's books
While you curl into my side

We giggle about beach trips together
We're both equally tripped by the other

Now we're fumbling with happiness
And anticipating our next embrace
Perhaps within a fort we've built
Or beneath a Willow tree
