The Beat Generation series is one of the strongest and most diverse created within Hip Hop. It's no surprise that a label as focused and thorough as BBE is behind such a series. With an A&R approach of 'do what you want' towards each artist, the end result has continued to be raw and inventive. The series has seen original full length from Hip Hop legends like Marley Marl and Jazzy Jeff; left-field experimentalists like King Britt, DJ Spinna and Madlib; and outright pop stars like Will.i.am.
To mark the Tenth Anniversary of this compilation series BBE enlisted the programming and mixing talents DJ Spinna and former Scratch Pervert and DMC Champ Mr. Thing to wrap the best of the best into a mixed CD.
I'm highly looking forward to this comp.
BBE releases The Beat Generation 10th Anniversary Collection on March 29, 2011.

It's no surprise that glitch hop, dubstep and all forms of Bass Music continue to expand and gain momentum across the US. Hip Hop was born in the US along with Electro. Combine the two classic genre and you get the cresting wave of electronic music crashing from coast to coast.
From press release::
'To kick off the release of Trillogy No.1 the right way, Trillbass is giving away a glitch hop remix from their colleague Psymbionic of the tune 'Chief Rocka'. Trillogy No.1, due out March 10th, marks their first release on Trillbass Digital, and is the first of a 'trilogy' of albums, due in April and May respectively. Recently Trillbass put out an exclusive mix for future bass label Made In Glitch, which showcases many of the tracks forthcoming, as well as tunes from ill-esha, Your Dirty Habit, and Psymbionic. '

Frite Nite Records Showcase:
“For a good while now, the main man behind San Francisco’s Frite Nite label, Paul Salva, has stood firmly behind his label, making sure its delivery of futuristic, eclectic electronic music ran smoothly as it remained tasteful and interesting. But the label head makes music too, under the name Salva, and next year will see the release of his own full-length album, Complex Housing. …Salva’s new tune is a pristine slice of squelching, synth-driven funk, albeit ‘funk’ that sounds like it comes from a whole other time and place. Its impressively infectious melodies are rivaled only by the smashing beats that surround them. The soundscape is fully realized with the addition of warm, warbling ambiance in the background. Sure, you can dance a bit to Salva’s “Blue,” but you can also just sit and listen to the rich production through headphones.” -Patrick Fallon/SF Weekly
B. Bravo (Adam Mori), a West Coast California native, brings his own sound of synthesizer funk to any track he lays hands on, whether in the studio, behind the turntables in the club, or performing his music live on stage. As an original member of the Frite Nite crew based in San Francisco, he is also a driving force in the Modern Funk Movement, spearheaded by LA’s Dam-Funk. Bravo’s DJ sets include melody-infused Dubstep, UK Funky, and original Future Funk bangers, all loaded with full helpings of bass. His live set (showcasing original material played live with samplers, synths, keyboards and vocoder) was unleashed this year to the masses and has received rave reviews from crowds and music lovers alike.
Hailing from San Francisco as a writer/MC/DJ, Epcot has been releasing and touring music on an international stage for the last 10 years. As an MC, he has worked with everyone from Tipper, Si Begg and The Glitch Mob, to Salva, Eprom, NastyNasty, Mimosa and Lorn, just to name a few. His tunes have been championed around the globe by radio and club DJ’s alike, including Rob Da Bank, Annie Mac, Mary Anne Hobbs, Giles Peterson and Annie Nightingale. With multiple international tours under his belt, as well as appearances at Bestival and Fabric, many mics have been torched across the globe. As a DJ, Ep has a reputation for playing all sub-genres of progressive bass music with the skill of a turntablist wiz.

Born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) was an unfocused pupil of classical piano. However, she has come to use this background to create vast textural soundscapes by utilizing live instruments, percussion, digital manipulation, and dusty vinyl. Through the creation of beats, she is able to fuse vintage sounds with progressive styles into something unique.
LA native Henry Laufer may be a young fella, but the 19-year-old producer, better known as Shlohmo, has rocketed on to our radar screen in recent months with his lo-fi, psychedelic mix of abstract hip-hop, dubstep-flavored wonk, bouncy synth-funk, breezy trip-hop, and what sounds like lost gems from the mid-’90s Mo’ Wax catalog. Now splitting time between San Francisco and LA, in January Shlohmo will be releasing theShlohmoshun Deluxe mini-album.
LA’s most daring new artists wears a buzzing halo. This young musical romantic weaves together a true “love-sound” that falls between honeyed melody and avant-electronics. Daedelus chops and splices disparate acoustic sources into incredible works of staggering resonance. His production style is very unique; it has a precise impact that will make you wonder if you?re dreaming or dancing.

Featuring "Sushi (Slow Dancing At the Prom Mix)" by Kyle Andrews, users can choose between 4 unique dance partners and let their imaginations create the ultimate slow dancing simulation experience.
This kid just writes perfect Indie Pop songs. They remind me of my permanent soundtrack via mix tapes my high school sweetheart would make me.
Inventive music videos aren't new for Kyle Andrews. He got himself on the video map with the YouTube Mosaic for the original version of "Sushi" in 2009. It's a digital piece of art that was made from 1.4 million tiles, and thousands of unique and clickable YouTube video stills. The Guggenheim Museum praised it on their Biennial of Creative Video shortlist. In 2010, the video for "You Always Make Me Smile" was a viral hit, breaking the world record for largest water balloon fight and gaining over a million YouTube hits in just under 2 weeks. The SushiDanceParty.com experience is just another taste of what Kyle Andrews has up his sleeve.
His debut full length "Robot Learn Love" will be released in Summer 2011.

Daedelus is a producer who has surpassed the point of genre discussion. He has dragged the term 'experimental' across time and sample so many times the lines are not just blurred, they are seemingly ancient and fresh all at once. His newest full length, Bespoke, will be released in April via Ninja Tune.
Daedelus - Tailor-Made feat. Milosh (TOKiMONSTA Remix) by Ninja Tune
The album features vocal talent “from all around this current music mess” (as Darlington puts it), including acclaimed soul singer Bilal, Inara George (of Bird and A Bee), Baths (aka Will Weisnefeld), Busdriver and Alfred’s Uncle Pete (aka Pete Curry of surf band Los Straightjackets), to name but a few.
And for all you New Orleans kids, if you missed him a few months back then you better catch him next time he comes to town.

Nice remix of a future classic.

I first came into contact with RYAT when Simple Play Productions brought the duo through New Orleans. They played Dragon's Den on a Monday night in the middle of Summer. It was one of those shows where you just had to be excited to be part of such a small group of people watching such a rad performance.
Their music falls into its own category verging multiple styles and genre into one cohesive whole. Part free jazz, part wild electronics, part pop music.
You can catch the band in New Orleans again via Simple Play during Foburg Fest at One Eyed Jacks.

Paul Salva is set to drop his full length 'Complex Housing' next week on the Friends of Friends label. This is one heavy hitter with productions covering the gamut of dope musical leanings. Whether it be references to classic Chicago house or the vast Future Bass movement, this album has something for every electronic nerd out there.
His productions have been supported by Numbers, Ernest Endeavors and LuckyMe crews in the UK, the Low End Theory residents in LA and his own Frite Nite label/crew in SF.
If you don't know what Salva has brewing in his complex house, you should.
And for one week only you can stream the entire album @ FACT Magazine's Website.
Hang on to your hats New Orleans because I believe Salva and a crew from Frite Nite Records will be in NOLA before you know it.
